National Manifestation Heat in the Delta
24.11.2014 - Events
Francine Houben will speak about internationalisation and Mecanoo’s Library of Birmingham during the national manifestation on public clientship and design “Hitte in de Delta” (Heat in the Delta) in Amsterdam on November 28th, 2014. Organised by Architectuur Lokaal, the manifestation focuses on upcoming changes regarding public commissioning.
In the future, municipalities will have to deal with small local initiatives but also guide urbanisation. Attention to climate and energy have to be self-evident in this context. But how can the aldermen adapt to these changes in relationships and tasks? How can they take advantage of new techniques and the possibilities offered by design? Which examples are available, which financial models? And in what way can communities realise and guard spatial quality?
“Hitte in de delta” is organised every four years ahead of municipal local elections and allows governors, designers, knowledge institutions, civil servants, project developers and housing corporations to share their innovative ideas with fellow aldermen, local councillors, deputies, chairs of the water boards and all others involved in clientship and design in The Netherlands.
The lecture by Francine Houben takes place at 12.00 during the session “Competitions as political and creative tool” in the Expo Room.
This session will be in English. Other parts of the manifestation will be in Dutch.
