People, Place, Purpose: Francine Houben lecture at The Berlage
16.06.2016 - Events
The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design will host the evening lecture “People, Place, Purpose” by Francine Houben on Thursday June 23 in Delft, the Netherlands.
Sharing the stories behind some of Mecanoo’s high-profile designs, Francine Houben will present the three fundamental elements on which her body of work has been based: people, place, purpose. Taking examples from Mecanoo projects that have been realised all over the world, like the Delft University of Technology Library and the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, Francine will show how each project is carefully considered in terms of its cultural setting, place and time, amounting to a unique design statement embedded within its context and orchestrated specifically for the people who use it.
The lecture is organised as part of the "The Berlage Keynotes", a public lecture series by high-profile and internationally prominent practitioners and designers.
The free event will take place in the Oost Serre of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft University of Technology, Julianalaan 134 , starting at 6.30pm. More information.
