Francine Houben to receive the International Honorary Fellow Award from the Architecture Institute of Taiwan

Friso van der Steen, Technical Director at Mecanoo, will receive the award on behalf of Francine Houben, Mecanoo’s Creative Director. Friso will give a lecture at the Architecture Institute of Taiwan, Saturday 21st of April at 15:30h, moderated by the President of the AIT, Professor PhD Cheng-Li Cheng.
In the lecture, Friso will delve into three decades of Mecanoo. The extensive collective experience, gained over three decades, results in designs that are realised with technical expertise and great attention to detail. Mecanoo’s projects range from single houses to complete neighbourhoods and skyscrapers, cities and polders, schools, theatres and libraries, hotels, museums, and even a chapel.
Francine Houben, Hon. FAIA, Hon. FRIAC is the founding partner and creative director of Mecanoo architecten. She has received Honorary Doctorates from Utrecht University and Université de Mons (UMons) and was granted lifelong membership to the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. In 2015, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands presented her the prestigious Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Prize for her entire oeuvre.
