Kaohsiung Station 2023 Exhibition shows Mecanoo’s ambitious design

The new exhibition “Kaohsiung Station 2023″,  on display in the nearby original station building, shows how Mecanoo’s ambitious design will transform the city’s mobility system. It includes design drawings, renders, models, VR, videos and construction images.

The new Kaohsiung Station is the crowning achievement of the massive Kaohsiung Metropolitan Area Underground Railway Project and will integrate train, metro, local and intercity bus services, taxi and bicycle traffic. The design is also contextual, relocating the historic early-20th-century colonial Japanese-style station building to its original location and giving it a prominent location at the main entrance of the new development.

The exhibition arranges five double-sided exhibition panels between the columns of the old station’s main hall. Their colours define the two sections of the exhibition, with white towards the central space and Mecanoo blue towards the outer path. The central space features five scale models, VR headsets for a virtual experience of the new design and a video explaining the design process.
