The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra praises the acoustics of the National Kaohsiung Centre for the Arts

17.06.2019 - Events

June 8th and 9th, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra received a standing ovation at Mecanoo’s National Koashiung Centre for the Arts in Taiwan. A Mecanoo delegation joined the audience and was curious to hear about the Orchestra’s experience on the new concert hall.

The musicians were very enthusiastic about the acoustics of the Concert Hall, specifically about the way they could hear themselves play on stage. Chief conductor, Lahav Shani, said it was their best concert so far, because it is a very healthy hall for the musicians. In many halls they have to overproduce the sound to be able to reach the last rows. “Here from the beginning I just tell them it is a really  good hall, just play as you hear it on stage, it is the same thing people hear in the audience. This is a great feature of the hall.”

Watch and listen to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Lahav Shani and Francine Houben in the National Koashiung Centre for the Arts - a report by Justus Cooiman here (NL).
