Mecanoo joins 'Data and Knowledge Hub Healthy Urban Living'

How do you make an urban environment liveable and healthy? How do you combine data and knowledge from public organizations with the innovative entrepreneurial power of companies and the experiences and behaviour of residents?

These questions are particularly important during and after the Corona pandemic. Today kicked off a new public-private platform with the name Data and Knowledge Hub Healthy Urban Living. RIVM will develop concrete and practical solutions with impact on healthy living in urban areas, together with other organizations and residents. Examples of projects are Snuffelfiets and Gebiedsontwikkeling Cartesiusdriehoek.

The Healthy Urban Life Data and Knowledge Hub is an independent and open platform of public and private organizations. We work with residents to find solutions for a healthy urban living environment. The organizations within the hub develop scientifically based, data-driven concepts and measures: evidence-based products and services that have a positive effect on the health of everyone who lives, works or takes part in recreation in an urban environment. Now and in the future.

First webinar from a series

Due to the measures taken against the new Corona virus, it was a virtual kick-off during a well-attended webinar. About 180 participants saw how Erik Gerritsen (Secretary General of the Ministry of VWS) expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative via a video message. The initiators provided background information about the partnership and looked ahead to the rest of the series of webinars. They will provide insight into projects and opportunities for collaboration. Many participants spontaneously shared their ideas in the chat room and exchanged data.

A growing platform

RIVM, Utrecht University and Economic Board Utrecht are the initiators of this platform. In the meantime, various partners have joined: the province of Utrecht, the municipality of Amersfoort, the Future City Foundation, Mecanoo, UMC Utrecht, Hogeschool Utrecht, Civity and Urban Sync. Other public and private organizations in the Netherlands can also join and/or use the data and knowledge within the platform. Take a look on the website for the possibilities that are available.

During this webinar, you will learn what is technically and substantively involved in 'real time' measuring with sensors and how you can tackle this together with various parties.
